About the Author
Nigel Thorley has been involved with Jaguars all his life, having owned 68 at the time of writing. His first Jaguar came at the age of 18, and he has owned most models over the years, currently owning a 5.0 litre XK Portfolio convertible and an XJ saloon.
Nigel has written over twenty titles on the Jaguar marque, including several of the Essential Buyer's Guides for Veloce Publishing. He is a founder member and director of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club and has edited its magazine Jaguar Enthusiast since 1984. Having previously edited Jaguar Driver magazine, he has also written for many other forms of media.

Quite helpful, but...

A nice short text to help you try and avoid making a buying mistake.
Good overall advice on buying any used car...but seems to fall short on listing the known problem areas for these complex cars.
I'm glad I bought it, but if you're looking to buy an XJ, I would recommend you thoroughly peruse the Jaguar owner forums for info on known problem areas (air suspension, throttle body sensor, headlight units, etc.) and more importantly, what it will cost to fix those issues here in the U.S.

Only Jaguar XJ8 Book You'll Need

Outstanding guide to buying an XJ8. Every area of the car is covered in depth with highly useful tips on evaluating a used car. Using this book as a guide, I found a nearly perfect 2008 XJ8 that was properly maintained and that looked and performed as new. This is the book to get if you're looking for a 2004 - 2008 XJ8.
