Not helpful for todays patterning

This book is very old and was a required book by my Professor. The basics of how a pattern is created is the same as today but you will want to take into account the changes in how you measure the human form. This book will instruct you (and poorly sometimes) on how to measure the body and create a sloper from those measurements. I followed the instruction for a sleeve sloper and the result was a puffy ruffly area at the top. Think little house on the prairie. i found another set of instructions that included measuring the bicep and the end result was a flat dress shirt type sleeve. i would recommend beginners start with a newer book.

Not user friendly, but knows its patterns.

Well, the cover that is displayed here is not the cover for real. I didn't check the publication date, but judged a book by its cover. I will say that pattern making probably hasn't changed since the 70's, but I was a bit surprised. Obviously the text is dated, but the information is sound. My book was missing some of the stencils for making your own French curve, but I had one anyway. I would recommend this book, but it is dense and not very user friendly.

Happy camper with product and seller

The book: We are using this book to make a sloper and learn flat pattern drafting in a class that I am taking. I have other books on drafting sewing patterns, but this one makes the most sense to me in the way that it progresses through the process. The logic is clear and easy to understand.
The book was in great condition for having been a "used book". The product arrived sooner than promised. I rate the seller at 5 stars.
