About the Author
Sandra Rowe, PMP, MBA, MSCIS is a senior project manager at a health insurance company in Detroit, Michigan. Sandra currently works in the corporate project management office, where her responsibilities include leading information technology projects; developing processes, tools, and techniques; and designing, developing, and delivering project management training programs. She has also taught graduate level project management courses. Sandra speaks regularly at project management conferences on a variety of topics related to project management processes, project management for small projects, and the project office. Sandra is a member of PMI� and received her PMP� in 1995. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business, a Master's of Business Administration, and a Master's of Science in Computer and Information Systems.

Hard to read, feels like author is more interested in sounding smart that giving straight-forward guidance

I'm sure the author is a wonderful project manager but she really lacks in the authoring skills. I've only made it through "Part I" and I intend to push through the rest because I'm sure there is some valuable information in here, but I'm going to have to find it myself because the author doesn't really help you out with it. It reads like she's trying to teach you definitions for an exam rather than give any straight-forward, practical guidance on small project management. The remarkable over use of the comma for both lists and compound sentences is beginning to be comical. I read them aloud to my wife now as I come across them. Here's a recent one: "The Small and Simple Project Management (SSPM) methodology, which is an invention of the author of this book and is the method presented in this book, provides the framework, processes, tools, and techniques to manage small projects, and it can be further tailored for simple projects." There may be nothing grammatically wrong with this sentence but after a few chapters of these gems I can't help but feel the author was just attempting to reach a word count.

If I only knew about this project management stuff before...

Sandra provides real down to earth tools and techniques that are proven and work in managing small projects. Let's face it that is what makes up the bulk of what Project Managers do in organizations. What is great about the content is that each chapter builds progressively on the knowledge and considerations that need to be applied during the different phases of a project's life cycle. An excellent reference to have and share with project team members too so everyone starts on the same page and stays in concert throughout the journey and learning experience. I appreciate the stories and personal touches she integrates into the book.
