Four stars for Quinton, but maybe a one for Nova

I love Quinton. He's deep and has a lot of character. Nova is kind of annoying. He's honestly tortured and his experiences are tragic and just reading about it was painful. She kept comparing what she went through to him, but there is no comparison. He accidentally killed people he loved. Very different from her boyfriend committing suicide. Her summer of smoking pot is nothing compared to what he went through and how far he fell, stealing and selling himself for drugs.
His pain and struggle to deal with his past is what carried the book. Personally, her desperate need to help him so that she could feel better about herself got really old and her reasons felt more selfish than out of an honest need for him to be better. She did love him, but throughout the books she kept saying she needed to save him because she didn't want to feel like she failed someone again. I get where she's coming from, but for me, it took away from the love aspect. Only reason I gave it four stars is because Quinton is so likable and it's easy to get wrapped up in his side of the story.

more struggles and hope for these characters

So I've read some reviews for this book that complain there's no romance, there's not much page time where Quinton and Nova are together, there's no grand happily-ever-after that warms their heart and makes all of the depressing and difficult stuff in this series have some sort of payoff.
Well, that's all true. But what we get here with this series and with this third installment, is a more accurate depiction of real life in the face of drug addiction, which has always been the draw to this series for me.
Quinton is home in Seattle now, living with his father at least until his dad makes a decision that has potential to derail his recovery. Quinton struggles with it all, just like he did before, but now he works at getting better with the help of others. Nova continues to be a big motivating part of his recovery, even if its just over the phone. I liked that he didn't immediately run to her, but wanted to stand on his own before he could be with her. I thought his struggles were depicted very well, along with his reluctance to move out of his comfort zone of guilt.
As for Nova, she really seemed to be the one who needed help, as far I was concerned. Her incessant need to help and the guilt she takes on when things go south for others seemed to be very misplaced at times and I'm not sure she's in any better place than Tristan or Quinton. Just a different one. I think there is potential for more story about her, because some her her behaviors just didn't seem healthy to me. I did love that she followed her film-making dream and found a creative outlet for her need to help.
Tristan continues to be an interesting character to me. I do think that Nova could have handled him better and the fine line she rode with Tristan seemed headed for disaster for most of the book. I thought his struggle was also well-written and portrayed and I'm eager to read more about him in his upcoming book.
So overall, while this book doesn't have the intensity of the first two books in the series, it was still a very satisfying ending, although I felt it left some doors open for more books about Nova and Quinton.

I'm bummed out I didn't like this one as much as the first two books!

First Thoughts
I honestly hate to say this, but I didn't enjoy No Regrets. Nova had always kind of irritated me with her save-the-world complex and rambling emo nonsense into her video camera, but Quinton-- he had always captivated me. Watching the good guy he once was spiral out of control via an addiction to meth and heroin killed me. I was thoroughly ecstatic to read No Regrets because it was supposed to be about Quinton's road to recovery. I wanted a glimpse of that good guy again. Unfortunately, Quinton's dark thoughts and inner demons started to gnaw at my nerves and I just couldn't like him anymore.
What I Enjoyed
When Nova and Quinton finally did the deed.
It was cute, it was passionate, it was a long time coming. It was the one part of the story that made me feel good, and--trust me--I was desperate to feel something, anything really, besides annoyance!
What Could Have Been Better
The dialogue.
Holy cow, it seemed unnatural and awkward!
Quote - "It's okay. You can call it payback for me being cheesy earlier, but I think I'm just on emotional overload between this phone chat and our text conversation earlier. You're giving me a high dose of feel-goods and I'm starting to get really nervous about how I'm feeling right now. It's freaking the s*** out of me."
Is this a romance, or what?
Quinton constantly obsessed over Lexi and refused to take down pictures of her as part of his therapy. Nova repeatedly found ways to insert Landon into the conversation. I'm sorry, but shouldn't you two be moving on and focusing on each other? Is reminding each other that you each had an epic teenage love supposed to help the healing process??
TL;DR
Too long; didn't read.
Meh. Nova was always annoying. Quinton became annoying. They kept dwelling on the past. The dialogue was absurd. The sex scene was the only enjoyable one. The ending seemed like "I don't know what to write anymore so let me end it like this." I'm hesitant to continue the series.
