About the Author
Professor Dan Wei received her bachelor s degree in physics from Peking University in 1988 and her Ph.D. in Physics from University of California at San Diego (UCSD) in 1993 under the supervision of Professor Daniel P. Arovas. From 1993 to 1996, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Professor H. Neal Bertram in the Center for Magnetic Recording Research (CMRR) at UCSD, doing research in the field of micromagnetic theory for magnetic tape recording systems. From May to October 1996, she worked as a visiting researcher at the Data Storage Institute (DSI) of the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she built a model to simulate the read/write process in longitudinal recording hard disk drives. She joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University in November 1996 as an associate professor. A full professor since 2000, she is a senior IEEE member and a senior member of the Chinese Electric Association.
